Brothers Luca and Diego Fainello shot to fame in 2008 with their Roberto Tini-produced track L'Amore. The song won Sonohra the Best Newcomer award at the 2008 San Remo Festival and since then the duo have continued to win awards and release gold- and platinum-selling singles. In 2009, the brothers began using Sontronics microphones, which have now become part of Sonohra's core recording set-up…
The Fainello brothers have had a rapid rise to fame since releasing their first award-singing single just three years ago. Their debut track as Sonohra not only won them the San Remo award but also the Italian TRL award for Best New Artist. Their next two singles – Liberi da sempre and Sweet Home Verona – were both platinum-selling, and their most recent claim to fame was being asked to record the theme song for the Italian soundtrack to the movie The Chronicles Of Narnia. So, first of all, how does it feel to suddenly find fame?
“We are so pleased to have had this wonderful opportunity,” says Diego, “This is a very happy period for us. We are pleased with and proud of what we do and we hope to always give our audience something new and interesting."
As Sonohra's success has grown, so has their need to find reliable, quality recording tools, something that led them to try and then buy Sontronics microphones. "My brother Luca and I were introduced to Sontronics by Maurizio Mancassola [of Mancassola Music store in Italy]. The first microphone we used was the DELTA, which at first we only used in the studio… but after a while I then decided to use it live on stage, simply because I'd fallen it love with it as it sounds so good on my guitar amplifiers."
Guitars are at the heart of the Sonohra sound, so getting the guitars exactly right, in the studio and on stage, is absolutely key to the recording process. "You know, guitar sounds are very important for us and finding the right tool to get the right sound is not always easy," Diego admits. "Our live sound engineer, who takes care of the sound at all our live concerts, also agrees that the Sontronics DELTAs are a very reliable instrument, capturing the exact sound that we want to reproduce for our live fans.
"We especially love the DELTA's character and we take it around the world with us, wherever we play," Diego continues. "We were looking for a reliable microphone and in that respect DELTA has never disappointed me. You could probably take any part of my set-up away from me, but you're not having my DELTA!"

Seeing how much Sonohra love their DELTA, it comes as no surprise to learn that they soon added other Sontronics mics to their set-up. They are regularly using STC-80 dynamic microphones for vocals and guitar amps in their live shows, including some amazing performances at Gardaland amuseument park.
They've also now added the Sontronics SATURN to their studio."After the wonderful experience with DELTA," explains Diego, "we also bought a SATURN. We use this mic in the studio and it has become a permanent fixture among the tools we turn to when recording new material. We have already used it on many occasions, including on our recent song A Place For Us." [the track written by Carrie Underwood that Sonohra recorded for the Italian soundtrack to The Chronicles of Narnia]
The multi-pattern SATURN is designed to be a studio workhorse, with patterns to suit pretty much any source in the studio, something that Sonohra have experienced for themselves, as Diego continues: "We also used SATURN on acoustic guitars and we even used it for piano on that track… it really is fantastic! We have a wide range of microphones but honestly Sontronics mics are our favourites!

“We will definitely continue to buy Sontronics microphones," Diego concludes. "They are exceptional tools for anyone who plays music. This company produces exceptional microphones and gives us the chance to have great recording tools."
